Just before 3 p.m. Monday afternoon, a driver on Pinehurst Drive lost control of her vehicle and crashed into an occupied home. A father and his one year old child, in the home at the time of the crash, sustained minor injuries.
According to Alex Lopez, Division Chief with Hernando County Fire Rescue, the crash occurred at 7480 Pinehurst Drive and initial reports were that occupants of home had been pinned by the vehicle.
Hernando County Fire Rescue personnel responded to the scene and found a silver Mercury mid-sized SUV had crashed into the home. The SUV was found more than half way into the homes living room.
At the time of the crash, a father and his one year old child were in that living while the mother of the child was in another part of the home. Both the father and child were moved by the vehicle striking the home and sustained minor, non-life-threatening injuries.
The 21 year old female driver of the Mercury SUV denied having any injuries when Hernando County Fire Rescue arrived on-scene. The driver stated she lost control of the vehicle and subsequently struck the home. At the time of the crash there was light rain in the area.
The father and child were transported to Bayfront Spring Hill Hospital for evaluation of their injuries.
